There are many fencing materials for homeowners and property owners to choose from. The needs for the fence can be very diverse, which means that not every material should be applied to every purpose. People often like to have the strongest material possible for their fence, even if it’s not absolutely necessary. For a strong and durable fencing around your home, the strongest material would probably be iron. Cast iron and wrought iron are both different, but they represent some of the strongest materials for residential and commercial fencing.

Wrought iron gives a traditional or classic look to any setting. It’s a perfect addition to any large estate’s boundary. Traditional wrought iron can be expensive, because of its extreme durability. It will last for a very long time, and can withstand the elements. What the wrought means is basically “worked” iron. It was smelted at relatively low temperatures, which takes time. As the iron melts so slowly, the impurities in the metal are removed, and the result is an iron that is very pure. This pure wrought iron is much more able to withstand corrosion and rust.
Cast iron is also a strong fence material, but it is not as strong as wrought iron. Cast iron is simply made by heating the metal much more quickly, and pouring the metal into a mould to shape it. This method of forming the iron will leave it much more susceptible to the elements, and corrosion. Impurities and carbon deposits that have been removed from wrought iron through the smelting process will still remain in the cast iron. This makes the cast iron slightly weaker than the wrought iron. Cast iron is still one of the strongest materials, but the presence of certain impurities will make it a little weaker than wrought iron.
